Boycott on Action Comics and Grant Morrison lifted...

The Christian Comic Shop Owner stated today:

"First and foremost, I want to make a formal apology to Grant Morrison. I made a statement in anger after reading the issue in question after the store closed on Wednesday. Mr. Morrison, I most humbly apologize for calling you a “Scottish schmuck”, I was way out of line. This is a true heartfelt apology."

Um...yeah that name calling I did...well my blood sugar was low and...I'm sorry. Seriously! You jump the gun and then give an apology. What a dumb ass, but wait there is more. He goes on to say:

For right now though, I have to admit that the can of worms that has been opened is much larger than I ever dreamed it would be. But that’s OK. There are a lot of interesting views here mixed in among the hate. The bottom line is that nobody but Grant Morrison knows the TRUE intent behind the GD letters. This issue could be easily resolved by a simple post from either Mr. Morrison or the editors at DC Comics."

Really? You think? Oh wait you didn't at first, and now we are sitting here with internet ablaze with your stupidity and crass decision to boycott something based on your narrow view point. What a dumb ass, but yet again it doesn't end there. Grant Morrison finally responded to the Christian Comic Shop Owner about the "GD" in Action Comics #1 on DC Comics Source Blog:

“It should go without saying that the offending panel and caption, a mere ‘GD’, is a sound effect grunt – to suggest Superman’s breath being forced through gritted teeth – much like ‘DHH’, ‘GNUHH’ or the many others used throughout this book and in general in the comics business. It’s not in any way representative of God or a curse.”

And we all knew that except for this Christian Comic Book Shop Owner who is a hypocrite when it comes to the merchandise he sells.

I asked a good friend of mine who is also Christian and a huge Superman fan about the "GD" thing and he told me, "That guy is a fucking moron. It could have easily been gosh darn-it."

So, where do we go from here with this prime example of fan boy / Christian stupidity? Well you figure it out from the Christian Comics Book Shop Owner's response to Grant Morrison's explanation:

"Thank you Grant Morrison. The boycott is lifted. Once again my apologies to Grant for the unwarranted name calling. Thank you to those who supported my stance. To those who didn’t… I respect your opinions. To those who only posted to bash Christians and people with opinions different from yours… grow up and get a life."

Because as we all have seen that is exactly what the Christian Comic Book Shop Owner did. Fucking Dumb Ass, but thanks for the free publicity for our shop and podcast.

  1. He got burned for jumping the gun, but at least he came to his senses. Thats a good point your friend made about it could have been gosh darn-it. That means, whenever this Christian comic store owner sees the letters GD, he thinks of God damn. What kind of Christian has that curse at the ready?
