Conspirator Brock's Pull List for 2/8/12

For all of the curious people out there wondering what I like to read week to week here is a list of the titles I am going to be picking up for the week of 2/8/12:

(Note: I have included deep links for some titles if you wish to support Comics Conspiracy when you buy digital comics. I have not included links to Marvel or Dark Horse books because you cannot support us currently by buying them through our site.)

01. Batgirl #6 DC
02. Batman and Robin #6 DC
03. Batwoman #6 DC
05. Deathstroke #6 DC
06. Demon Knights #6 DC
07. Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E #6 DC
08. Green Lantern #6 DC
09. Grifter #6 DC
10. Huntress #5 of 6 DC
11. Legion Lost #6 DC
12. Resurrection Man #6 DC
13. Severed #7 Image
14. Star Wars: Agent of the Empire #3 of 5 Dark Horse
15. Suicide Squad #6 DC
16. Thief of Thieves #1 Image
17. The Unwritten #34 Vertigo

Fairly big week for me already, and I had to get doubles of Batgirl and Huntress for Calli, but it is week two of month six for the "New Rejiggered 52" and there are some great titles this week: Green Lantern, Batgirl, Resurrection Man, Suicide Squad, Batwoman, and Batman and Robin to name a few. I am really looking forward to the two part "Hunt for Harley Quinn" story that starts in Suicide Squad this month and seeing what happens with Resurrection Man's admittance to Arkham Asylum. Can't wait.
I am going to give Robert Kirkman and Nick Spencer's new Image book Thief of Thieves a try because I like Robert Kirkman and the book was only $2.99 so stay tuned I may or may not let you know what I think.
And if you hadn't already noticed...NO MARVEL TITLES! This is such a relief on my wallet. Now I know their will be people out there that say I'm just hating on Marvel when I post stuff like this but I am just letting you know what really takes place in my mind when it comes to buying my comics. (I will read Wolverine and the X-Men: Alpha & Omega #2 this week but I'm not buying it.)
This week I took home 19 titles that were $2.99 (doubles for Batgirl and Huntress and the variant for Green Lantern) and one title at $3.50 (thank you Dark Horse) my total for books with California tax (8.25%) was $65.29. If I was to get a Marvel title that averages $3.99 I would have to add $4.32 for each $3.99 title that I put on my pull list. This adds up quickly. So, when I don't have any Marvel books on my pull list my wallet thanks me.
Don't forget to check out the FREE Veritgo Preview: 2012 to check out a sample of Fairest #1, Saucer Country #1, Dominique Laveau: Voodoo Child #1 and The New Deadwardians #1.

Remember you can now find these titles and more in digital format at our Comics Conspiracy - Comixology Storefront or you can still order comics from us directly by visiting the shop, giving us a call (408) 245-6275, or dropping Ryan an email at ryan@comicsconspiracy.biz.

As usual I'll be talking comics on The Comic Conspiracy, and on the Geekbox Forums. Now get out there and enjoy some good old fashioned comic book reading.

    1. Fixed the problem. Now go and check it out; hopefully you don't find the cherub or little demon penis offensive.

  3. Got 8 Marvel books today and only 4 of them were $3.99 and all four of those were better than more than half the junk in your box. No reasoning with a guy that's fine with quantity over quality.

Also why can't your girlfriend read your comics?

    1. LiQuid,

Your post came up as spam so I don't think the quantity over quality argument worked, plus the fact that you didn't even list what four titles you think are quality for $3.99. Slipping my friend you are slipping. That by the way is the Marvel effect on the brain.

My girlfriend wanted to get her own copies.

    2. Both of the WatX books, Remender's Secret Avengers and Incredible Hulk were all great. More importantly I got Journey Into Mystery, New Mutants, Scarlet Spider and Venom 13.1 all for $2.99 and those are all great. Whether or not you'd like them or not is naturally subjective, but you need to stop pretending there are no quality books from Marvel at for three bucks.

    3. I read WatX: Alpha and Omega and I enjoyed it, but not enough to buy. The regular WatX is now drawn by the other artist I'm not fond of even though I like some of his work and Wolverine is still the worst there is at being nice, so I'm still out and done with the X-Civil War. I used to read Secret Avengers and then Brubaker was off and Fear Itself and the point ones happened and I was done. Incredible Hulk can't live up to the title. I have no interest in Journey Into Mystery, never been a New Mutants or Scarlet Spider fan and the concept of Venom now is like Weapon X mixed with an the alien suit; it is just a shame that Flash is now Venom.
Now before you get frustrated about my blanket dislike of Marvel realize you do the same thing with DC.
Quality is in the eye of the person with money to spend. Quantity is just wanting to get more bang for my buck (meaning more to actually read).

    4. Bro Secret Avengers got a new creative team, this time it's by the guy who's writing Venom and Uncanny X-Fo- oh right. Flash is a cool Venom though.

    5. I liked the concept of Secret Avengers and X-Force (last volume) but the execution hasn't been all it can be. Venom has never been a character I have liked. Eddie Brock as Anit-Venom was cool, but Flash as Venom at the end of the day doesn't sit well with me.

    6. I'm kinda indifferent to Venom but I really liked what i read of the new series. It was much better than i thought it would be.

  4. "Now before you get frustrated about my blanket dislike of Marvel realize you do the same thing with DC."

Except for the fact that I have almost 20 DC comics on my pull list. Would be more but I just dropped a couple like DCU Presents, JLI and Voodoo. Nice try buddy. I don't discriminate based on a label. I try all things and read everything that I like.

    1. 20 DC Titles...I get that many in two weeks. And I really think you have misunderstood my dislike of Marvel. I read some of their titles, but they aren't worth buying. Marvel has no lasting appeal for me to read titles I have no interest in and Marvel hasn't delivered the quality you seem to think they do. Did you just get back into comics? Cause that would explain a lot.
