Friday afternoon I will be boarding a plane to fly north to the wonderful city of Portland, OR. I am going up for a friend's wedding, but I will be taking some time out to have a small vacation.
I will be visiting the best book store on the west coast Powell's, and taking a tour of some of the comic book shops in the Portland area. I will have a tour guide for this adventure, Jordan Phegley of the Infinite Longbox podcast has graciously offered to drive my ass around the greater Portland, OR area to check out the comic book shop scene. I can't wait. If you haven't checked out the Infinite Longbox podcast you should.
Stay tuned for my "Conspirator Brock's Local Comic Shop Review - Portland, OR", but I will share some of my experiences on Episode 75 of The Comic Conspiracy.
Welcome to Conspirator Brock.com! This little part of the internet is home to my random musings about comics, movies and other comic centric topics. Every Wednesday my pull list gets posted so you can compare, contrast, or complain about the books I pick up and read every week. Thank you for stopping by, and always feel free to leave comments.

Visit Powells, visit Excalibur Comics (love to go there for back issue diving), walk around the grounds of the Pittock Mansion to get a nice view of PDX/Mt. Hood from the western hills, drink some coffee at Stumptown or Barista, eat some food from a food cart/cart pod (Cartlandia, Good Food Here, Mississippi Marketplace), eat at Big-Ass Sandwiches cart, grab a beer and Fish-n-Chips from the Horse Brass Pub, eat some pizza a Apizza Scholls or Ken's Artisan Pizza, sandwiches at Bunk, burgers from Killer Burger or Little Big Burger, Reuben sandwiches at Kenny & Zuke's, ice cream from Salt&Straw or Cool Moon, eat a Bacon Maple Bar from Voodoo...sorry, got off on a food tangent there. Probably don't need any other ideas if you already have a tour guide but DM me with your cell# if you want to chat.
ReplyDeleteI went to Powell's and grabbed a copy of Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell, A Battle for the Castle by Elizabeth Winthrop, and the Jonah Hex trade Face Full of Violence. I saw the food truck mecca off of 10th, but it was late and most of the places were closed. I will keep your food recommendations in mind for another trip up here. Might try to come back up next year with the family for a vacation. As for comic shops, I do plan on going to Excalibur comics to try and find some back issues for binding, but I'm not sure of the other shops we are going to check out, but I will be sporting my Geekbox T-Shirt on Sunday while I am out and about.
