Green Lantern movie in 3D...Boring!

Green Lantern did not live up to the hype. I can't give this movie a thumbs up or a thumbs down. I will talk this to death with Ryan Higgins on the podcast so I'm going to keep this short. The movie overall was in one word...BORING! The 3D couldn't even do anything to enhance the film for me. I am going to go see it again in 2D with my girlfriend because I want her opinion on it before I discuss this at length on The Comic Conspiracy. As a hopeful fan of Green Lantern I am disappointed.

Green Lantern Tonight!

Going to watch Green Lantern at midnight! Only thing I'm worried about is watching it in 3D and the fact that from what I've heard from the internet is that it isn't what people expected. I will be my own judge thank you very much. Stay tuned for my review.

13. Walking Dead (Vol. 14) - No Way Out [TPB] Image
14. X-Men #13 Marvel
15. X-Men: Prelude to Schism #3 of 4 Marvel

You should know by now what titles I am looking forward to and if you don't then you haven't been paying attention. This week I'm looking forward to Flashpoint, Fear Itself: Home Front, Legion of Super-Heroes and the Walking Dead trade. Of course this week is overshadowed by the fact that Green Lantern comes out on Friday. I am going to the midnight showing on Thursday, but due to the fact that Ryan Higgins doesn't like a certain movie theater complex around here I will be watching it in 3D. I hope I enjoy the film despite the fact that I might get a headache watching the film. Damn you Higgins! Of course I'll watch it again, but it will be in 2D. So, get out there and read some comics and go watch Green lantern this weekend!

As usual I'll be talking comics on The Comic Conspiracy, and on the Geekbox Forums. Now get out there and enjoy some good old fashioned comic book reading.

Green Lantern movie...almost here...

In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might,
Beware my power... Green Lantern's light!

Tomorrow night I will be sitting in a dark theater, wearing 3D glasses, ready to experience the Green Lantern movie. I can't wait...kinda. I didn't want to watch Green Lantern in 3D, but if I'm going to be one of the first to go see it I'll need to just suck it up and deal with the headache I'm going to get. Oh well, I already know I'll be seeing the film again so it doesn't really matter. I will however be able to tell you which version is better; the 2D version. I can't be so negative to 3D though. Need to keep an open mind about getting a headache during my movie going experience...it is so hard to do this. Anyway, I am excited to see the green on the big screen and I am sure that this movie will be a hit (except with all the internet haters and Marvel crazed fan boys).

Random Comic Pick - Episode 12

My random comic pick on The Comic Conspiracy: Episode 12 is Superman / Batman: The Search for Kryptonite written by Michael Green and Mike Johnson with art by Shane Davis. There is kryptonite scattered all over the Earth and Superman wants it all destroyed. Batman agrees to help and the two embark on a journey that reveals how the different colors of kryptonite affect our favorite Kryptonian. I really enjoyed this story arc and I think you will too. So, get down to your local comic book store and snag a copy of this trade and you will find out what makes Superman "highly unstable".

01. American Vampire: Survival of the Fittest #1 of 5 Vertigo
02. Annihilators #4 of 4 Marvel
03. Batman and Robin #24 DC
04. Batman: Arkham City #2 of 5 DC
05. Booster Gold #45 DC
06. Flashpoint: Citizen Cold #1 of 3 DC
07. Flashpoint: Deathsroke and the Curse of The Ravager #1 of 3 DC

12. The Stand: No Man's Land #5 of 5 Marvel
13. The Unwritten #26 Vertigo
14. X-Men Legacy #250 Marvel

You are probably getting tired of me talking about Flashpoint, Green Lantern and DC in general then go ahead and skip this next part. If you haven't been reading Flashpoint you should because it is really good. I'm also looking forward to Booster Gold this week and the Green Lantern: Movie Prequel one-shots. So much to read (considering I'm about two weeks behind), but I'm going to sit in a chair and get caught up if I can get Brody to sleep for an extended period of time. Wish me luck.

As usual I'll be talking comics on The Comic Conspiracy, and on the Geekbox Forums. Now get out there and enjoy some good old fashioned comic book reading.

Random Comic Pick - Episode 11

My random comic pick on The Comic Conspiracy: Episode 11 is Crisis on Infinite Earths by Marv Wolfman and illustrated by George Pérez. I read this a few years ago when I first got back into comics and it was an amazing read. The story takes all of the multiverses in the DC Universe and removes them from the DC continuity. It is an epic event that has many lasting effects on the DC Universe. Ryan Higgins and I both believe that the big DC announcement from last week has something to do with the DC Universe around Crisis on Infinite Earths. I suggest this to anyone who wants a great story, and if the DC Universe jumps back to this time period; then I can't wait to read DC comics this September.

X-Men: First Class...Must See!

Calli and I went to see X-Men: First Class this morning and it was amazing. Calli enjoyed it, and said that she now understood the first three films better now. I asked her how she felt about this movie compared to Thor and she said she couldn't compare them because one was about on character and the other was a team film. Two different types of movies to her. I was pleasantly surprised overall, and actually left the theater wanting to see it again. For me this is the best X-Men movie. Filled with action and an actual story this prequel is well worth seeing. There are two cameos that you will really enjoy (no Stan Lee though), and you don't have to stay after the credits there isn't anything extra. Go check it out.

DC Re-Boot in September

“The first rule about FLASHPOINT is, don’t talk about what comes after Flashpoint.” Easy for the Chief Creative Office of DC Geoff Johns to say. After the big announcements yesterday of a re-boot of all DC titles to new #1's of which there will be a total of 52 of them coming our way, not to mention changes to origins of major characters, 50 costume changes, and that DC will have Digital Day-and-Date comics. That is a big announcement and you don't want us to talk about it...that's not going to happen. So much was announced and the news keeps coming.

Here are some of the highlights that I gleamed from yesterday's announcements:

1) Justice League ongoing comic book by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee is set to be the only other title released the week of August 31st besides Flashpoint #5.

2) There are numerous new books coming out; Hawkman series by James Robinson and Philip Tan, Aquaman by Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis, and Firestorm to name a few.

3) There will be a shuffling of creative talent:
-Superman written by Grant Morrison.
-Birds of Prey will not be written by Gail Simone
-Teen Titans by "Red Robin" scribe Fabian Nicieza.

3) Deadman is set to be the main character in Adventure Comics.

4) There is something called Edge and Dark coming to DC Comics after Flashpoint...Sounds a lot like Marvel Edge and Dark Reign.

And announcements are still coming. So following this, “The first rule about FLASHPOINT is, don’t talk about what comes after Flashpoint,” is not going to happen (except for those who have signed a NDA).

Fans are already breaking this rule. Yesterday's announcements set the Twitter a fire, Facebook status updates a blaze, and forums threads loaded with fan boy reactions, questions, and outrages at this announcement. Higgins is a prime example of what some fans did yesterday. He was glued to his computer and phone talking wildly and smiling like a kid in a candy store. He was so over whelmed that he was tripping over his words and very excited all day; it was very entertaining to watch.

Needless to say that we will be definitely talking about this on The Comic Conspiracy: Episode 11.
